So week nine of A Theme A Week is green. Here are my green pics.

So week nine of A Theme A Week is green. Here are my green pics.
So week nine of A Theme A Week is Lines. Here are my lines pics.
So week eight of A Theme A Week is Movement. If I had a better camera I would have tried some kind of moving photo or light photo but I don’t atm. So instead I played with paint!
So week seven of A Theme A Week is Spring. Spring is only just beginning here really, so there aren’t many leaves out yet – it is very early so the buds are just starting and a few are slowly unfurling. There are some daffodils out and we have just has a few really sunny days with stunning blue skies.. it makes al the difference.
My piece today was in clay.. and feels as though it may become the first in a series called Growth – watch this space! Here are 2 pics of it.
So week five of A Theme A Week is copy. I wanted to try my hand at copying one of Monet’s water lily scenes, mistakenly thinking ‘it won’t be that hard’. It was really hard! I took a section of this image to copy –
This was my ‘copy’ –
What I have learnt from this is that 1) I am lazy at mixing colours 2) I need even thinner brushes 3) I get lost in what I want to do rather than focus on what I am meant to be copying.Having seen on this site https://deyoung.famsf.org/monets-water-lilies-returns-legion-honor just how large the original was I wonder if doing it bigger would be easier? It was a good experience though.
With the left over colours on my mixing board I made this –
So week four of A Theme A Week is body… inspired by an image of a bodyprint left on a sheet from fake tan!
I had hoped to take prints of different parts of my body but haven’t had much time by myself to do that. I have also been mulling over words to describe my body and it’s roles..
My Body
pleasure palace,
blow up doll,
pillow for sleeping infants, pets and partners.
holder of grief,
keeper of secrets
incubator and feeding station
my canvas, armour and facade
prodded, sliced, decorated
scarred, honoured, rejected
wobbly in places
firm and strong in others
my vehicle
steadfast, trustworthy and deserving
This painting was done a week later but I felt like it fitted here –
So week three of A Theme A Week is touch. How does one convey the essence of touch as a concept?
Similar to every week so far, my process this week has been to go on a few walks and take photos first. I appreciate the focus on having a theme – I look closer and become more aware of my surroundings. The typical and mundane take on a different hue when I am seeing through more artistic eyes. Some of my pictures at Westward Ho! were inspired by the idea of touch. Gallery of other inspired images below.
‘Touch – the meeting of the boundary between self and other.’

The above image one of the sculpture I made, more images below.
So week two of A Theme A Week is light. It’s been a grey and dingy week so light was easy to spot!
Similar to last week, my process this week has been to go on a few walks and take photos first. It has been inspiring but I am feeling the limitations of my basic camera phone!
The above image is the one I would choose.
So week one of A Theme A Week is Winter. It just so happens to be the first week of January and Winter so inspiration should be easy to find!
My process this week has been to go on a few chilly walks and take photos first. I am then hoping to create something else alongside, maybe using clay or some paint on canvas. Watch this space!
The sky was quite moody. I wanted to get the light within the shade.
The light within the thorny branches made me think about the Solstice, and the light’s return as well as the Christmas star – a light in the darkness.
Sky roots! Such a stunning sunny day but so cold! The bare branches nakedly reach.
They aren’t very obvious but within the thorny bushes a few green leaves grow – a reminder to me that the potential for growth is always there but maybe hidden.
I love the fragility of these skeletal leaves.
Frosty leaf.
Frozen puddle.
Frozen puddle 2.
Frozen puddle 3.
I loved the shadow of the tree but had to be in it myself.
More sky roots!
The finished piece!
